Hydrogen Adds One-Click Vercel Deployment

Shopify’s Hydrogen developer preview now supports direct deployment to Vercel through a single-click process. The new Deploy button automatically creates a GitHub repository from the Next.js starter template, configures a Vercel project, and initiates the build process without requiring local development environment setup.

What’s Included in the Template

The starter template provides a functional Hydrogen storefront with pre-configured components. Developers get the typed Storefront API client, shopping cart functionality, and ready-to-use product and collection pages. The template connects to live store data after adding Headless channel credentials from the Shopify admin.

Impact on Headless Commerce Development

This deployment option reduces the technical barrier for developers testing Hydrogen or building proof-of-concept storefronts. The elimination of local setup steps accelerates the path from concept to working deployment, particularly for teams evaluating Hydrogen against other headless frameworks.

The Vercel integration positions Hydrogen alongside Next.js deployment workflows that many JavaScript developers already use. Developers working with Shopify’s Storefront API can now prototype and deploy headless storefronts using familiar infrastructure without configuring build pipelines or deployment settings manually.

Current Status

The feature is available in the Hydrogen developer preview documentation under the deployment section. Developers still need valid Shopify store credentials from a Headless sales channel to connect the template to actual product data. The deployment process requires a GitHub account for repository creation and a Vercel account for hosting.
