Query SP Fee Details with the GraphQL Admin API
What Changed
Starting with API version 2026-10, the Shopify GraphQL Admin API introduces a new feeDetails query that allows developers to retrieve specialized fee information charged to a shop. This query returns a connection of FeeDetails objects, each containing structured data about individual fees.
Each FeeDetails object includes the following fields:
- feeName: The name identifying the specific fee
- amount: The total amount charged for the fee
- flatRate: The fixed portion of the fee
- variableRate: The rate-based portion of the fee
- taxAmount: The tax applied to the fee
- settlementAmount: The net amount after fees and taxes are applied
No action is required for existing apps, as this is an additive change to the API schema.
Why This Matters for Shopify App Developers
Apps that handle financial reporting, reconciliation, or payout tracking for merchants have historically needed to rely on indirect methods or manual calculations to break down fee structures. The feeDetails query gives developers programmatic access to granular fee data directly through the GraphQL Admin API, reducing the need for custom workarounds when building financial dashboards or accounting integrations.
This is particularly relevant for apps built around Shopify Payments, financial analytics tools, and any SaaS product that provides merchants with transparency into their transaction costs.
Practical Implications
Developers building or maintaining financial reporting features should review the new schema fields and consider integrating feeDetails into their data models where fee transparency is a requirement. Since this is additive to API version 2026-10, teams should confirm their app’s API version supports the query before implementation. Apps not currently handling fee-related data will see no impact from this change.
